Its landscape is populated by small villages, pastures, forests and transparent streams that pour all to the river Deva, taking these waters to the Cantabrian Sea by the spectacular gorge of the Hermida.
This valley only 300 m. of altitude, surrounded, however, by peaks that exceed 2,000 m. has maintained in a very pure way for its craftsmanship, traditional and popular architecture and its gastronomy. In the heart of the Picos de Europa, the Fuente Dé Cable Car, which saves a 750-meter drop, places the traveler at 1,450 meters altitude in just 4 minutes, at a maximum speed of 10 m / sec. From the top station the visitor will be overwhelmed by a landscape of immense beauty.
Designed by the Engineer of Roads, Channels and Ports José Calavera Ruiz and the Architect Ángel Hernández Morales, construction began on November 20, 1962 and was opened to the public on August 21, 1966.
Potes is a municipality of the autonomous community of Cantabria (Spain). It is located in the center of the region of Liébana of which it is capital.
